This is especially for SF bay;
but all are welcome.
Where are "safe zones" that you've found?
I've heard that Alameda is next best to SF
in tranny tolerance...is this true?
Anyplace else?
fremont? santa clara?
???

Re: Safe Zone
Tue, April 7, 2009 - 8:49 PMI live in Oakland 3 blocks from Lake Merritt, it's pretty cool. You may here negative comments about Oakland but it's pretty cool to me. I have a girlfriend that says Santa Rosa is the bomb and another girlfriend that swears Vacaville is a safe city and I just made a new friend that lives in San Leandro but we really haven't spoken about how safe it is for her. But what I do know is she lives pretty close to the East Oakland boarder (city limits) and she's still alive. I've lived in East Oakland and it has it bad apples just like SF and LA so basically one could live in the flat lands of East Oakland and thrive just like anywhere else IMHO (with the exception of the cops being gun down with automatic weapons) that was not meant as a joke, it was a terrible tragedy. -

Tue, April 7, 2009 - 10:22 PMThat's interesting. I lived in santa rosa and was hassled
and heard all sorts of nasty things from people...
Guess it's one of those things... -

Re: Safe Zone
Wed, April 8, 2009 - 6:56 AMI do not know the West Coast, but on the East Coast, Alexandria, VA is fairly safe, as is a ten block square section in the middle of downtown Baltimore.
YIKES!
I suddenly realized what we are talking about here are isolated pockets of people classed together as a homegeneous group because they happen to share one, not even common, but similiar, characteristic. . If this were the late nineteen thirties, and we were talking about a religious group in Europe; or if the sixties and a racial group, we would be calling these "ghettos," not "safe zones." So let's drop the soft euphemisms and be brutally honest.
SO - where's YOUR ghetto? -

Re: Safe Zone
Thu, April 9, 2009 - 1:39 AMI have completely different visions of the word ghetto,
so I can't agree there.
I'm closeted, and I move around alot.....

Re: Safe Zone
Fri, April 10, 2009 - 7:21 PMI always thought my girlfriend in Santa Rosa may be exaggerating, but I did not want to argue with her. I guess perhaps she lives in a pocket...on the other hand I haven't seen her in 2 maybe 3 years and she claims she's totally passable and that when she is clocked it's of a friendly encounter not the usual name calling and yada yada.
who knows
